In some cases you will be able to purchase a download game on the official Nintendo website before it is officially released, and it will be downloaded to your system ahead of the game's release date. This is called pre-order on Nintendo Switch and pre-purchase on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS family systems. Please note that you will not be able to play the game before it is officially released, which for first-party titles is 00:00 on the day of release.
