Storing download games purchased on the official Nintendo website on your device

Applies to: New Nintendo 2DS XL, New Nintendo 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS XL, Nintendo 2DS, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL, Nintendo Switch, Wii U

Download games purchased on the official Nintendo website can be directly downloaded on the device linked to the respective Nintendo Account, or Nintendo Network ID in the case of Wii U and Nintendo 3DS family systems. For that to happen, this device must:

  • Be updated to the latest system software
  • Be connected to the Internet with automatic downloads enabled
  • Have enough storage to complete the download

If you plan to download on a Nintendo 3DS family system, the system must be in stand-by mode.

Each page will list the download size of the game you are about to purchase. Please make sure you have enough storage to complete the download.
