What should I do if I forget my Parental Controls PIN?

If you forget your PIN, it's possible to reset it by following these steps:

  1. Open the Parental Controls software from the Wii U Menu.
  2. Select Parental Controls and tap "Forgot PIN".
  3. You will be prompted to enter the answer to your secret question. Once entered, you will gain access to the Parental Controls front page. You can reset your PIN here by tapping "Change PIN" and following the on-screen instructions.

If you have also forgotten the answer to your secret question, you can have a master key sent to your registered email address by following these steps:

  1. Open the Parental Controls software from the Wii U Menu.
  2. Select Parental Controls and tap "Forgot PIN".
  3. When prompted to enter the answer to your secret question, tap "I Forgot". If the partial email address displayed on screen is correct, tap "OK". The system will connect to the internet and display further information. Shortly an email containing a master key will be sent to your registered email address. The master key is valid for 48 hours.
    • If the partial email address displayed is incorrect, tap "Cancel" and follow the on-screen instructions, taking care to note down the Enquiry Number. You will need this to receive your master key when contacting Customer Support.
    • If you are unable to receive an email containing a master key – for example, if you have lost access to your email account or an email does not arrive – you will have to contact Customer Support. Local contact details can be found on our website.
  4. Once you have received the master key, either via email or Customer Support, tap "OK". On the following screen, enter the master key to regain access to the Wii U system's Parental Controls.
