This error message will appear if you try to redeem a download code for a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack individual or family membership with a Nintendo Account that is part of a family group with an active Nintendo Switch Online family membership.
Possible solutions
- If the download code is for a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack family membership, have the Nintendo Account owner that purchased the current family membership redeem the download code. Once the code is redeemed, all members of the family group will be covered by the service.
- If the download code is for a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack individual membership, you can leave your family group. After doing so, you will be able to redeem the download code with your Nintendo Account.
- When the current family membership expires, you will able to redeem the download code as long as it has not expired. Be sure to terminate automatic renewal before the current membership expires if you wish to do this.
