How to Sign In to a Nintendo Account

Step-by-step instructions for signing in to your existing Nintendo Account.

Important: The ability to use a Nintendo Network ID to sign in to an existing Nintendo Account or to create a new Nintendo Account has been discontinued. We apologise for any inconvenience. If you are having difficulties signing in to your Nintendo Account and previously used a Nintendo Network ID, information is available on accessing your Nintendo Account.

    Additional Information:

    • You can create a new Nintendo Account if you do not already have one.
    • You can use a Facebook, Google, Twitter or Apple account to sign in to your Nintendo Account by linking them together in your account settings.
      • When signing in to your Nintendo Account through a Nintendo mobile app on an iOS device (such as Mario Kart Tour on an iPhone), it is only possible to sign in using your Nintendo Account email address/Sign-In ID and password. Signing in via other accounts is not possible.

    What to Do:

    1. Go to the Nintendo Account website or open the application where you want to sign in.
    2. Enter the sign-in information that you used to create your Nintendo Account:
      • For Nintendo Account sign in - Enter the email address and password associated to your account, then select "Sign in".
        • If you have changed your preferences to allow sign in with your Sign-In ID only, you will not be able to use your email address to sign in. You will need to use your Sign-In ID to sign in to your account.
        • Supervised Nintendo Accounts (including accounts for children aged 15 and under) sign in using their own sign-in information and password (not the parent/guardian account sign-in information and password).
      • For Twitter, Facebook, Apple or Google - Click the button for the appropriate service and enter your sign-in information if needed.
        • If trying to sign in through a Nintendo mobile app on an iOS device (such as an iPhone or iPad), you will only be able to sign in using your Nintendo Account email address and password. If you have difficulty signing in this way, follow our steps on Unable to Sign In to Nintendo Account on iOS Device.
    3. If you have forgotten your Nintendo Account sign-in information, Click Here.
    4. You may occasionally be prompted to confirm your identity when signing in. If this is the case, an email with a verification code will be sent to the email address associated with your Nintendo Account. Locate the code in your email and enter it in the "Verification code" box, then select Submit.
    5. If you have set up 2-step verification, you will be prompted to enter an additional code. Launch the Google Authenticator app on your smart device, enter the code it displays, and then select “Authenticate”.
      • If you do not currently have access to the app, select “Enter a backup code” and use one of the backup codes you received when setting up 2-step verification. (You should have copied and saved these in a safe place.)
