    How to Link a Nintendo Switch Console to the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls App

    Instructions on linking a Nintendo Switch console to the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app.

    Additional Information:

    • A Nintendo Account (belonging to a user aged 18+) is required to use the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app.
    • Linking a Nintendo Account to the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app allows parents to manage and monitor Nintendo Switch usage through a smart device. More info
      • The same Nintendo Account can be used to sign into the app on multiple smart devices.
    • An internet connection is required to link the console and the app. Data charges may apply.

    Complete These Steps:

    1. Download the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app on your iOS or Android device.
    2. Get the registration code from the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app on your smart device.
      1. On your smart device, launch the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app and select Start on the main screen.
      2. Toggle whether you'd like to send diagnostic data for the app, then select OK.
      3. Tap Sign In/Create Account.
      4. The application will launch http://accounts.nintendo.com using your device's internet browser.
      5. Sign in to your existing Nintendo Account or create a new one.
      6. Your Nintendo Account nickname will appear on the screen. Select Select this person to confirm.
      7. You will be returned to the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls application. Select Next.
      8. A registration code will appear on the screen of your smart device.
    3. Use the registration code to link your Nintendo Switch console to your smart device.
      1. On the Nintendo Switch console, select System Settings from the HOME Menu.
      2. Scroll down to highlight Parental Controls.
      3. Select Parental Controls Settings, then If You've Already Downloaded the App.
        • If you have already set up Parental Controls on the console without using the app, select Change Settings, enter your PIN, select Set With Smart Device, then select Yes to verify that you have the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app.
      4. Enter the six-digit registration code from your smart device. Select OK.
      5. Select Link to link the Nintendo Switch console to your smart device.
    4. Once the linking is complete, you can use the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app to set Parental Controls restrictions.
      • An internet connection is required for the Nintendo Switch console to sync to the app.
    5. To link additional Nintendo Switch consoles to the app, select the + icon in the upper-right corner, select Add a Nintendo Switch Console, then follow the instructions in step 3 again. Up to three Nintendo Switch consoles can be linked to the smart device app at one time.
