    How to Update The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Nintendo Switch)

    Instructions on installing the update for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for Nintendo Switch.

    On 26 April 2019 a new software update for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild became available for download. Please take a moment to download and install this update while your Nintendo Switch console is connected to the internet.

    Additional Information:

    • For help resolving issues with the software update, please click here.
    • This update must be applied in order to use the game’s online features.
    • Save data will still be available for use after downloading the update.
    • If the console is connected to the internet, the update will download and install automatically.

    Complete These Steps:

    1. Connect the Nintendo Switch console to the internet.
    2. Return to the HOME Menu and launch the game.
    3. The update will be downloaded and installed automatically.
    4. Once the update is installed, the newest version number will be displayed on the title screen.

    Version 1.6.0

    • The game is now compatible with the Toy-Con VR Goggles from Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 04: VR Kit.
      • You can set whether you’d like to use the Toy-Con VR Goggles from within “Options” under “System” in the in-game menu.
      • This feature is also introduced on the Nintendo Labo website.
    • Some other adjustments have been made to improve the gameplay experience.

    Version 1.5.0

    • You can now select Chinese (Traditional), Chinese (Simplified), or Korean in the language settings menu on the Nintendo Switch console to display text in the selected language.
      • Voice Language selection is not supported for the above languages. If you choose “Match System Settings” in Options, voice data will be set to Japanese.
    • Various fixes to improve gameplay.

    Version 1.4.0

    • Added support for DLC Pack 2: The Champions’ Ballad. Players who have pre-ordered this content can play it by updating the DLC and software.
      • For the DLC update, please follow the instructions displayed on the screen once you have updated the software.

    • We have fixed the issue in Pack 1: The Master Trials of the Expansion Pass, in which defeating certain enemies for Kilton was not counted toward completion when playing in Master Mode.
    • In-game items can now be obtained from launching the software from certain articles distributed through a new News channel ("The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Tips from the Wild") which can be accessed via News on the HOME Menu.
      • This channel became available on 08/09/2017.
      • Depending on your game progress and location, certain items may not be obtainable.
    • Various fixes to improve gameplay.

    Version 1.3.0

    • Expansion Pass DLC Pack 1: The Master Trials is now available. If you have already pre-ordered this content, you can now play it by updating both the DLC and the software. You can update your purchased DLC through Nintendo eShop.

    • A feature has been added that allows you to choose from nine language options for in-game voices. You can access this setting from the Options menu on the title screen.
