    Event Details

The Throwback Throwdown is an online competition held within the Nintendo Switch software title Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (referred to below as “the game”), and is operated by Nintendo of Europe GmbH, Goldsteinstr. 235, 60528 Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

    Event period and locations

The event takes place on Friday, 23 October, from 17:00 to 19:00 (UK time) and is available to residents of the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. In order to ensure a good game play experience for all players, players from regions of great geographical distance to central Europe (such as the Canary Island, the Azores, the Svalbard archipelago and the continental Asian part of Russia) are not allowed to participate in the event and are blocked from entering the event through technical measures.

    Participation

To participate in the competition, players need to have a Nintendo Account with a country/region setting for one of the countries the event is available in. The Nintendo Account must have an active Nintendo Switch Online membership. No distinction is made between types of membership, whether any type of paid membership or a free trial. In order to participate, a player needs to have access to the game on Nintendo Switch, and must use their Nintendo Account to finish at least one event tourney match within the game. The event tourney can be accessed from the main menu within the game by selecting “Online”, followed by “Official Tourney Qualifiers”.

    Tourney Score

Tourney score is a rating only available for exclusive events in the game. Participants try to achieve the highest Tourney score. The Tourney score is a rating of the individual player’s skill, based on their match results factoring in the relative Tourney score of the opponents in a match. Players can confirm their individual Tourney score within the game at any time during the event.

Participants can play an unlimited number of matches during the event in order to improve their Tourney score. Matches which start during the event period will count towards the Tourney score even if they finish only after the event ended.

    Winners and prizes

The 100 participants with the best individual Tourney scores are considered winners of the event, each receiving a prize of 1,000 (one thousand) My Nintendo Gold Points.

Seven participants are considered grand winners of the event, receiving a prize of 10,000 (ten thousand) My Nintendo Gold Points. For this purpose, all countries the event is available in are split into country groups. The participant reaching the highest individual Tourney score among all participants from a country group is its grand winner. The country groups are (1) Great Britain and Ireland, (2) France, (3) Germany, Austria and Switzerland, (4) Spain and Portugal, (5) Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg, (6) Italy, (7) all countries listed under “Event period and locations” that aren’t part of the other country groups.

Every participant can win one prize only.

In case a tiebreaker is required due to an identical score between two contestants, a number of factors will decide. From first to last, these are the (1) highest number of matches played using one single nickname during the event, (2) highest number of matches played with one single fighter during the event, (3) earliest Nintendo Account creation date and time of the tied participants.

If a participant changes their country setting to a country the event is not available in at any time from participation to send-out of the prizes they will be disqualified.

    Delivery

Nintendo will deliver prizes to the Nintendo Account of the winners within two weeks of the event’s end date. Winners will be informed via email and My Nintendo notification. The email will be sent to the email address registered to their Nintendo Account. In case a winner uses a child account, the email will be sent to their family group admin instead. My Nintendo notifications can be checked by selecting the user icon and nickname in the top right corner on my.nintendo.com or the official website of Nintendo when signed in with a Nintendo Account. Winners can confirm the delivery of the Gold Points by checking the My Nintendo Point Log (https://my.nintendo.com/point/history) when signed in.

    Additional terms and Privacy Policy

The Nintendo Account Agreement and Nintendo Account Privacy Policy as well as the Terms of the My Nintendo Rewards Programme apply.

    Good luck!
