  • The Inklings and the Octolings will splat it out in the next Splatfest for Splatoon 2!

    04/07/2018

Calling all Inklings (and Octolings)! It’s been almost a whole year since we first started laying down ink and claiming turf in Splatoon 2 for Nintendo Switch! Since then, we’ve been ink-credibly busy adding tons of new weapons, stages and game modes, and of course, hosting Splatfest events too!

And now, to celebrate the game’s first birthday on July 21st, we’ll be hosting a special anniversary Splatfest, with a twist! Which sea creature do you prefer – the Squid or the Octopus? Your answer dictates who you’ll play as! If you’re more of a squid kid, you’ll play as an Inkling. Side with the octopus, and you’ll join matches as an Octoling, even if you don’t own Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion!

Speaking of which, we here at the Squid Research Lab have noticed a surge in the amount of Octolings taking part in battles lately. Rumour has it, if you complete all 80 levels in Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion, you’ll be able to play as one in online* clashes yourself, whenever you like!

The Splatfest is all set to start at 14:00 UK time on Saturday, 21st July and ends at 14:00 UK time on Sunday, 22nd July, with the results being revealed by Pearl and Marina shortly afterwards.

    How do I get involved?

Voting starts in-game this Saturday! Just visit the voting terminal in Inkopolis Square, choose a side and pick up your Splatfest Tee.

How can I prepare for the Splatfest?

Once you’ve got your Splatfest tee, you can work on filling its ability slots by playing in regular Turf Wars, so that you’re already at your best when the Splatfest starts.

    What’s in it for me?

Super Sea Snails are awarded after the results are in depending on how you performed and whether your team won or not. These can be used to upgrade your gear, all you need to do is head to Murch in Inkopolis Square and have a little chat with him. He’s pretty keen on Super Sea Snails.

So, will you be inking Inklings, or obliterating the Octolings? Pick a side and join the fight in Splatoon 2 on July 21st!
