  • Nintendo 2DS goes Coin Rush crazy with the New Super Mario Bros. 2 Special Edition bundle!

    03/06/2014

3rd June 2014 – For fans seeking some classic platform action this summer, Nintendo has today announced that a new hardware bundle for Nintendo 2DS, the New Super Mario Bros. 2 Special Edition, will release on 4th July.

Including a Nintendo 2DS White + Red plus a copy of New Super Mario Bros. 2 pre-installed on a 4GB memory card, the New Super Mario Bros. 2 Special Edition offering also comes complete with all Coin Rush mode add-on content released for the game since its launch in August 2012. This means that on top of over 80 courses full of hidden areas and secrets to discover, fans can get their hands on 30 extra challenges that are premised upon the pursuit of gold!

Coin Rush is a fun and challenging game mode in New Super Mario Bros. 2 where players are tasked with collecting as many coins as possible in a set time. The Coin Rush add-on content packs included as part of the New Super Mario Bros. 2 Special Edition offer courses of different difficulty levels, with players able to share their scores for Coin Rush with other players via StreetPass and show off their riches.

In New Super Mario Bros. 2, Mario and Luigi must rescue Princess Peach from the clutches of a familiar foe, but this time around the Mushroom Kingdom is bursting with more gold coins than ever before. With the colour gold being a dominant theme throughout the adventure, power-ups such as the Gold Flower – enabling Mario to shoot Gold Fireballs that turn enemies and blocks into coins – and the Gold Block – a gold-giving headpiece which leaves coins in Mario’s wake – all add to the fun, coin-collecting chaos in the game. For players with a friend who also owns a Nintendo 3DS or 2DS system and a copy of the game, New Super Mario Bros. 2 includes a Co-op Play mode which allows two players to take on the entire adventure together and pull off cool moves not possible in single-player.

Nintendo 2DS goes Coin Rush crazy on 4th July when a new hardware bundle, the New Super Mario Bros. 2 Special Edition, releases at retail. Until then, check out our official New Super Mario Bros. 2 website to find out more about the game!
