  • Check out two new Iwata Asks interviews

    29/11/2010

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has long been delving into the creative processes behind video games via the Iwata Asks series of interviews, and today sees the arrival of two more additions to the series.

First up is Iwata Asks - Super Mario All-Stars, in which the music of the Super Mario series is being discussed with Koji Kondo, Mahito Yokota and Ryo Nagamatsu.

The team talk about the Super Mario music included on the Super Mario History Soundtrack CD that comes with Super Mario All-Stars - 25th Anniversary Edition and how the technological evolution of consoles helped shape the soundscape of Mario's many adventures.

In the second new interview, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has invited industry veterans Yoshio Sakamoto and Hironobu Sakaguchi to talk about their current projects as well as their respective views on creating video games.

Sakamoto-san, who at the time of writing had just put the finishing touches to METROID: Other M for Wii, talks about his love for adventure games and the way they affect players in different ways. Sakaguchi-san, the famous creator of the Final Fantasy series, discusses current project The Last Story, an epic RPG for Wii which saw him 'reset' his usual approach in order to create a new kind of experience.

As an added bonus to the interview you will also find Sakamoto-san's complete Game Developers Conference 2010 keynote speech in which he discusses different approaches to game development in his volume of work, including the Metroid and WarioWare series.
