Extensive online features take the series worldwide for the first time ever. Not only can you compete against others using Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, New International Track and Field also contains an in-game ‘Newsfeed’ system wherein World Records are updated and reported when they are broken. Newsfeed also gives you tournament updates and real-time information about the status of your online Friends, as well as any taunts or messages they have sent you.
For this anniversary celebration, all the stars have come out to play. New International Track and Field features a number of well-known personalities from Konami’s back catalogue as unlockable characters. By completing specific targets, players can access Pyramid Head, the iconic villain from the Silent Hill series, Frogger, Simon Belmont from Castlevania, Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid and more. Some of these characters also can compete in their own Character Challenge.
In each of the 24 events, you can use the DS microphone to give your athlete a special boost by speaking words of encouragement to them. Don’t be shy – cheer your character to victory.
