The Rules of Actionloop

a002_230.jpg

Like all the greatest games, Actionloop is very easy to play but difficult to master. The game is played entirely with the Nintendo DS Touch Screen and stylus so that you can effectively play with just one hand.

The action takes place on an inwardly looping track, along which differently-coloured Gemstones roll slowly towards a hole in the centre. You must stop the Gemstones falling down the hole by clearing them from the track as quickly as possible.

To do so, you simply flick Gemstones from a Launch pad in the middle of the screen using the DS stylus. If three or more of the same coloured Gemstones touch each other, they disappear.

Advanced Techniques

Magnetic Attraction
magnetic.jpg

Gemstones of the same colour are magnetically attracted to each other, which can be a great advantage in times of danger.

If a group of Gemstones is getting close to the danger point, you can pull it back to join the group behind it. Check the colour of the closest Gemstone in the rear group, and then launch a Gemstone of the same colour at the back of the endangered group.

The magnetic attraction of the two Gemstones will pull the endangered group back to the group further down the track.

Multicolour Bomb
multicolour.jpg

The Multicolour Bomb is a lifesaver when you have a line of Gemstones teetering on the edge of the danger point. Multicolour Bombs destroy all Gemstones of a certain colour; for instance, flicking a Multicolour Bomb at a red Gemstone causes all red Gemstones on screen to disappear. Multicolour Bombs only appear occasionally, however.

Rocket attack!

From time to time, rockets appear to push the Gemstone line at a higher rate of speed. You must destroy them quickly by hitting the rocket with a launched Gemstone or by destroying all Gemstones in front of the rocket.

Game Modes

Actionloop features three single-player game modes that offer different styles of play based on the same basic rules.

Challenge Mode

In Challenge Mode, your only goal is to clear Gemstones for as long as you can. The more Gemstones you clear, the harder the game gets.

Quest Mode

Quest Mode has similar rules but is quite different from Challenge Mode. You must destroy all Gemstones that appear in order to progress to the next level. Many levels have different loop designs, while some also have more than one Launch pad. You can win items to slow down the progress of the Gemstones, reverse them or stop them altogether.

Checkmate Mode

If you need a break from the non-stop action of the other modes, try the relaxing puzzle-solving of Checkmate Mode. There are 60 puzzles to complete, by using all the Gemstones provided to make every Gemstone on the track disappear.

Multiplayer

Versus Mode

Actionloop features a two-player Versus mode for fast-paced fun with a friend. In Versus mode, each player must attempt to clear Gemstones from the track in the same way as in the single-player game but you can hinder your opponent by making numerous attacks.

By clearing Gemstones from your track, you will send Blockers to your opponent, which can only be removed by destroying the Gemstones next to them.

Attack items add an extra level of intensity to the action. Once activated, you can create various effects on your opponent's side.

DS Download Play & Multi-Card Play

To play Actionloop with a friend, both players need a Nintendo DS each but only one copy of the game is required.

Extras

Polarium Advance Bonus
Polarium Advance is a puzzle game for the Game Boy Advance from the makers of Actionloop. It involves flipping coloured tiles to make whole lines of one colour disappear.

You can unlock new tiles and new puzzle stages in Polarium Advance by connecting it with Actionloop, simply by inserting the Polarium Advance cartridge into the Game Boy Advance cartridge slot of Nintendo DS (or Nintendo DS Lite), and selecting Polarium Advance Bonus from the Actionloop Options menu.

Demo Download
If you have a friend who wants to try Actionloop for themselves, you can send a temporary demo of the game by local wireless connection using the same method as DS Download Play (see Multiplayer section). The demo includes 49 Challenge Mode levels and 2 Quest Mode stages, which remain playable for as long as the player's Nintendo DS is switched on.
