Farm life

Create your farmer

Just as every farm is unique, so is every farmer! Choose to play as a boy or a girl, customise their appearance and unlock new outfits and accessories as you play. Some accessories can even bestow extra stamina, or increase the prices that your produce can be sold for.

Start small

Your small plot of land might not look much to start with, but with a little hard work and care, it’s sure to flourish! Grow a wide variety of crops that change with the seasons, and raise livestock including alpacas and angora rabbits. Then, sell and trade your wares to bring in money to expand further.

Rental agreement

Certain crops can only be grown in special fields, which can be rented for a set amount of time from Oak Tree Town's Guild.

If you want to rent a field owned by the Guild, you'll need to complete a challenge, such as shipping the most of a certain crop in a single day. Once your rental period has expired, you'll need to compete with the town's other farmers to regain the rights!

Planting power-ups

By snapping up some Mystery Seeds, you can even try your hand at growing crops that look remarkably like some famous Nintendo items! Get rid of wilted crops with a Fire Flower, keep your crops fresh for up to 30 days and make them more valuable with a Super Star, or immediately grow all nearby plants with a Super Mushroom!

Tricks of the trade

Take advantage of the Trade Depot to trade with farmers from all kinds of distant locations outside of Oak Tree Town. The traders’ desires will change over time, and it’s up to budding entrepreneurs to decide when to sell in order to make more money.

Trading a wide variety of products like fertiliser, fish and milk, while buying items like silk and blueprints to create new tools, will attract more merchants to the village and give you more opportunities to maximise your profits!

Hone your craft

As your farming career flourishes, you’ll be able to add new buildings to your plot, opening up entirely new possibilities. Build the Cheese Factory to try your hand at making cheese and various other dairy products, set up a Pottery Studio to get arty, and more!

You can also craft furniture to make your farmhouse feel like a home. Just find the necessary materials and blueprints, and you’re all set!

Furry friends

You’re never truly alone when you’ve got a pet by your side. Your cuddly companions can even help out around the farm: horses allow you travel around and cats will return from their adventures with gifts for you. Remember to keep your pets happy by playing with them or taking them for a walk.

Town life

After toiling away in your fields, there’s no better way to unwind than exploring Oak Tree Town – there’s plenty to see and do! Take a relaxing trip to the river for some fishing, visit all sorts of animals at the Wild Safari or even participate in special events. Take the time to talk to the townsfolk, build friendships and maybe even meet that special someone!

Till you drop!

A trip into town gives you a great excuse for a spot of shopping! Seeds and other basic good can be perused and purchased from the General Store. There are also tools, outfits, foods and blueprints available from other shops all over Oak Tree Town.

Eventful days!

Keep an eye on your calendar, as new competitions and events happen each and every month. Take in a Fireworks Show on a summer’s eve, or go to the Starlight Gala in winter. Attending, and sometimes competing in, these events isn’t just a good way to meet your neighbours – you’ll also receive money or special items if you win!

Down by the river

Take a scenic stroll down the river and, if you have a rod, you can enjoy a spot of fishing. You can even enjoy a leisurely swim and recover treasures on the riverbed.

Going on safari

Shortly after your arrival, you’ll be able to visit the Wild Safari and see loads of exotic animals such as monkeys and penguins. Get to know the Wild Safari’s inhabitants and soon you’ll be able to add new species. Eventually, you’ll even be able to invite townsfolk to see how you’ve expanded the park!

CI7_3DS_StoryOfSeasons_WeddingDay.jpg

That special someone

A new life in the countryside means there’s lot of opportunities to meet people. Checking in with the locals is a great way to get to know and befriend them. Certain characters will become more affectionate over time and can be wooed with a gift… as long as you’ve put some thought into them.

If things go well, you’ll be able to invite bachelors on dates, fall in love, and who knows, perhaps you’ll pop the question and settle down to raise a family together!

CI7_3DS_StoryOfSeasons_MultiplayerEmoticons.jpg

Multiplayer

Even the most experienced farmers need a helping hand every now and again. Invite fellow farmers far and wide to visit your farm or visit theirs to socialise or assist with their tasks!

Drop by the Guild

Thanks to Veronica, who oversees town relations, Oak Tree Town has prospered and continues to do so. Visit the Guild and Veronica will explain how you can meet and work together with other players.

CI7_3DS_StoryOfSeasons_Multiplayer.jpg

Farm Tours

Visit a friend’s farm or invite to lend a hand at yours. Up to four players can meet up in a player’s farm at once, either online* or via Local Play.

Explore each other’s fields, share messages and even give crops and livestock a boost using a Magic Wand. Remember to prepare souvenirs for your guests, or get a gift for your host if you’re visiting!

Just passing by

If you StreetPass with other players, you can exchange profiles and learn even more about your fellow farmers. They may even show up in your town, so you’re never far from a friendly face.
