Return to Alola…

Ominous dark clouds are spreading in the sky above the Alola region, the setting of Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon. In these adventures, a story unfolds on a grand scale, with the Legendary Pokémon Solgaleo, Lunala, and Necrozma at its centre. Secrets about Necrozma and the Alola region – undisclosed in the previous games – will come to light.

…and explore worlds beyond!

CI_3DS_PokemonUltraSunUltraMoon_Solgaleo_Lunala_UltraWormhole_Art.jpg

In Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon, you can explore the various worlds that lie through the Ultra Wormholes. Within an Ultra Wormhole, there are countless warp holes that lead to different worlds. Try exploring different worlds by passing through these warp holes. You can even go to the home worlds of the mysterious Ultra Beasts!

Meet the Ultra Recon Squad

The Ultra Recon Squad is a mysterious group that has come from a world that lies beyond an Ultra Wormhole. For what purpose have they come to the Alola region? Players will see the story told from somewhat different perspectives in each version, with Dulse and Zossie (pictured left) playing a central role in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Soliera and Phyco taking that role in Pokémon Ultra Moon.

Discover more than 400 Pokémon

More than 400 Pokémon will be discoverable in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon, many of which were not available in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. Some of these Pokémon will only appear depending on which version of the game is played. For example, in the same patch of tall grass where Houndoom will appear in Pokémon Ultra Sun, Manectric will appear in Pokémon Ultra Moon.

You’ll also encounter new Ultra Beasts on your adventures around Alola!

Island Challenges revisited

The island challenge is a ritual passed down in the Alola region. Its intention is to help children grow into full-fledged Pokémon Trainers. Some trials in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon seem to play out in different ways than they did in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. There’s even a new trial with Mina, one of the captains who serve as guides for these trials.

10 new things to enjoy in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon

Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon is full of fresh content, new Pokémon to encounter and worlds to explore. A brand new tale

Secrets about Necrozma and the Alola region come to light in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon, with a new story unfolding on a grand scale. Necrozma has transformed into two new forms: Dusk Mane Necrozma, who took over Solgalao, and Dawn Wings Necrozma, who took over Lunala.

“There are new Pokémon and characters coming into the game,” explains Mr Iwao, “there’s quite a big story change that you can get into. We feel that this will make it a quite fresh experience for people who have played Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. There are also returning characters like Hau and Lillie who you’ll see a different side of this time around.”

On top of this there are an additional 100 events that you will encounter as you go through the world that were not in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon.

New Pokémon arrive in Alola with over 400 to encounter!

This isn’t the Alola you thought you knew. As you’re out exploring Alola in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon you’ll encounter Pokémon new to the region that didn’t appear in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, like, UB Adhesive, UB Assembly and UB Burst.

“In Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon there are over 400 different Pokémon from the entire series that you can catch, so there’s really a lot to enjoy,” explains Mr Iwao, “also, Mewtwo will be appearing this time around so you can hopefully get to find him and catch him!

Explore the Ultra Wormhole and visit the home worlds of the mysterious Ultra Beasts!

Ride on the backs of the Legendary Pokémon Solgaleo and Lunala to travel through an Ultra Wormhole and reach the worlds that lie beyond!

“The Ultra Wormhole is a new feature that you can go into and explore,” Mr Ohmori says, “as part of that you can go into the worlds where the Ultra Beasts are from, so as part of the story within the game itself this mystery of the Ultra Beasts really comes to the forefront.”
