Endless Ocean 2: Adventures of the Deep turns a stunning underwater world into your personal playground as you explore oceans and rivers in search of rare fish, precious treasure and ancient secrets.
With so much to see and do, however, you might find yourself in need of a little direction as you swim deeper into uncharted waters.
There’s never any shortage of underwater life to witness when you dive in Endless Ocean 2: Adventures of the Deep, but sometimes you’ll find yourself surrounded by 10,000 eels when all you need is a shark.
If, for example, you’re undertaking a request to snap a photo of a specific fish but can’t remember where in the world to find it, help is at hand. In the Marine Encyclopedia, even fish you haven’t actually witnessed or added to your encyclopedia will be included in the form of a silhouette. Once you have played through the game's main storyline, selecting one of these silhouettes will provide you with details of where that fish can be found.
Of course, once you dive beneath the waves, there’s still some work to be done as you attempt to get up close to your favoured fish. If it’s a small fish you’re looking for, you’d be well advised to select Océane as your diving partner – employing her knowledge as you scour your surroundings. On the other hand, if you’ve got bigger fish to spy, aquatic expert Hayako is the best person to take along. Also worth remembering is the fact that certain fish will only come out of hiding at specific times of day.
Keep these pointers in mind and you’ll soon discover that there’s no aquatic animal cunning enough to avoid detection!
In too deep?
Do you simply want to dip your toes in the water or launch right in at the deep end? In Endless Ocean 2: Adventures of the Deep, the diving gear you acquire will open up the way to explore freely without keeping one eye on your diminishing air supply.
While most of the essential upgrades you require to unlock new areas will come your way as you advance through the game’s plot, there are moments where you might find yourself wishing you’d invested a little more time and money in kitting yourself out with the best available equipment.
Finding salvage items, acting as a guide, mapping uncharted waters and accepting other requests will all earn you currency that can be handed over to Nancy on Nineball Island in exchange for the latest diving gear. And while these side quests may conflict with your single-minded determination to uncover greater mysteries, you’ll find the latter is made much more comfortable if you’re well-equipped.
Running out of air at any point simply means you’ll return to the surface and start your dive again, but as you inch closer to unveiling the truth about the Song of Dragons and enter deeper, darker waters, it may become a source of frustration that leaves you wishing you’d come properly prepared!
Some helpful direction
There’s so much to see and do in Endless Ocean 2: Adventures of the Deep that there may be the occasional moment where you wonder where on earth you should go next. This could prove to be especially true if you’ve taken the advice above and spent some time completing requests rather than pursuing the game’s main plot.
Have no fear though; there are plenty of ways to find out what options are open to you as you look to take your adventure in another direction. First of all, remember your friends. On Nineball Island you’ll find fellow underwater enthusiasts who could offer a suggestion of where to go next or reveal a key piece of information.
You should also make a point of referring to the notebook on Nineball Island on a regular basis. In here you’ll find a list of details on uncompleted requests, a summary of the game’s story so far, hints about where to find rare items and more.
Alternatively, if you’re simply too much of a sea lover to spend any time on dry land, you could just hop aboard your boat and set sail in the hope that a new area has become available to explore!
