  • Update from the Squid Research Lab: Kelp Dome stage arrives in Splatoon 2!

    18/09/2017

If you watched last week’s Nintendo Direct you’ll know all about Kelp Dome, the new stage in Splatoon 2 that was added to the rotation over the weekend.

    Kelp Dome

Veteran Splatoon fans may recognise it. That’s right, this is a returning stage from the original game, but there are a few new twists you’ll need to get to grips with! For example, there are some extra grates to slip through and it seems that there’s an extra bit of turf on each side.

One of the main staples of Kelp Dome is the catwalks spanning throughout this large glass dome. They’re great for inking turf below but be careful as you’re very exposed up there. Our researchers will continue to gather data from this stage but are taking a little break as it can get really warm in there. It’s like a greenhouse, honestly.

    Snapper Canal

That’s not the only Splatoon 2 announcement from the Nintendo Direct, though! A completely new stage called Snapper Canal emerged from the presentation. It has a river running right down the middle and it’s pretty tough to get into that central area. You’ll need to find a way through as the key to victory is controlling that area and pushing into the other team’s base.

Snapper Canal is coming soon to Splatoon 2 and we’ll bring you more information when we get it.

    Tenta Brella

Lastly, a new type of Brella weapon featured in the Nintendo Direct. Introducing the Tenta Brella, coming soon to Ammo Knights! It’s sort of like regular umbrella but it looks more like a big camping tent capable of guarding over a large area. We’ll let you know when it will become available in the game!

Discover the game at the official Splatoon 2 website and keep up to date with our findings at the official Splatoon Facebook page.

Splatoon 2 is available in shops and as a downloadable version from Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch now.
