Connecting your Wii to the Internet

This method works for users with a wireless Internet connection. If you have only a wired connection, click here.

Step 1

Click the 'Wii’ button in the lower left.

Step 2

Click 'Wii Settings’.

 

Step 3

Click the right-pointing arrow to reach the second screen of options. Then, click 'Internet’.

Step 4

Select 'Connection Settings'.

 

Step 5

Select a connection that reads 'None’.

Step 6

Select 'Wireless Connection'.

 

Step 7

Select 'Search for an Access Point'.

Step 8

The Wii console will search for an Access Point. Once this search is completed, you will choose the Access Point you wish to connect to. Click 'OK' to display the list of Access Points.

 

Step 9

Select your Access Point. If your Access Point is not displayed, click here for tips on what you can do.

If your connection appears with a closed padlock, then the Access Point requires a password. The password can usually be found on the security tab of your wireless router’s settings. Click here for more information on security settings, including how to access the settings for your Access Point.

Step 10

Click 'Save', followed by 'OK'.

 

Step 11

Then select 'OK' to start an automatic connection test.

Step 12

If the test succeeds, Internet Setup is complete and your Wii is wirelessly connected!
