There’s no need to worry about purchasing a mic either: while you can use a USB microphone (for example the Wii U Microphone, sold separately) to play, it’s possible to sing using the microphone on the Wii U GamePad!

A variety of timed Tickets are available to purchase from Nintendo eShop, and you can sing to your heart’s content for as long as your Ticket lasts. The following Tickets are available:

Simple Controls

The Wii U GamePad makes it a breeze to manage the music: queue up songs as someone else is singing, rearrange the order of the upcoming list, or change the tempo and musical key of a track. You’re in control!

It’s possible to sing using the microphone on the Wii U GamePad, but you can also use a USB microphone (for example the Wii U Microphone, sold separately) to play. Two microphones can be connected simultaneously, so you can sing like a star alongside a friend.

Tickets for Every Taste

The software is free to download from Nintendo eShop and you can browse the Song Database (for free) at any time*. If you’d like to sing, you’ll need to purchase a Ticket from Nintendo eShop and remain connected to the Internet while you play.

Before you jump in and purchase a Ticket though, make sure you use your free trial**: this gives you access to all the features of the software for a whole hour, so you can see how much fun it is without paying a penny!

A Variety of Modes

The default mode gives you a classic karaoke experience: as your chosen tune plays the lyrics appear on the TV screen for you to follow. There's no scoring, no competition, just the joy of singing! If you need a bit of help with how the melody goes, you can select a Backdrop that displays a visual Melody Guide, and in many songs a track of Guide Vocals can play while you sing.

Feeling a bit more confident? The software also features several modes where your performance is given a Rating: you can choose just to receive a score at the end, get an in-depth analysis of your performance or take on other players across Europe as you try to top the rankings*.

Starter for Ten

If you need a bit of help getting into the swing of things, you’ll find the Collections very handy indeed. Simply choose a theme that appeals to you and you’ll be taken to a ready-made playlist of ten songs that are sure to get your party started!

Customise

With Wii Karaoke U by JOYSOUND you can really make the fun your own. Select from a variety of Backdrops, design your own stages, and head to a special area called My Room to set your preferences.

Choose Your Background

Insert an SD Card that contains JPEG photo data into your Wii U to display a slideshow of your photographs while you sing.

Alternatively, you can have your Mii sing along with you on screen, view a Visualiser, or belt out some tunes with a recording studio Backdrop and helpful Melody Guide.

Design an Original Stage

The stages your Mii characters perform on can be personalised in all kinds of ways: choose from an outdoor stage or concert hall, decide on the positions of neon lights, arrange your backing dancers and choose their outfits.

Several customised stages can be stored, ready for use whenever the mood takes you – or the right track comes on. Once you’ve created a stage you can tweak it again at any time…

Dress Your Mii

Head to My Room to choose an outfit for your Mii, as well as the colour of its clothes. Outfits you have chosen will make an appearance during your Mii character’s performances – change your outfit to match your mood, or dress up like your favourite pop star!

Easily Access Favourites

In My Room you can set your favourite songs and artists  – giving you swift, easy access whenever you want it. A list of songs that you have recently sung is also stored here, so you can queue them up again in a flash.

A variety of settings, such as microphone volume and echo type, can be saved for each Mii character in My Room – that way you can always sing using the settings that suit you, and get on with having fun!

Extras

Take it up a notch – split into teams and take on friends and family in Karaoke Battles, post screenshots of your best moments to Miiverse, and make your vocal extravaganza even more enjoyable*.

Karaoke Battles

Split into Red and Green teams, and sing themed songs to see which team’s performances get the best scores. Up to 10 players can compete so there’s no excuse to be a wallflower!

Achievements

As you play you’re sure to unlock a bunch of cool Achievements, which can be viewed in My Room. Do you have the performing prowess to get them all?

Wii Remote Instruments

Up to four Wii Remote or Wii Remote Plus controllers (sold separately) can be connected, so your mates can take charge of backing instrumentation while you take centre-stage.

Off-TV Play

When you’re singing the lyrics come up on the TV screen and other players can use the Wii U GamePad to queue up songs… but you can play without the TV at all. With Off-TV Play the lyrics come up on the GamePad instead!

Miiverse

Snap a screenshot and post it the Wii Karaoke U by JOYSOUND Miiverse Community, and share your moments of glory with the rest of the world.

Wii Karaoke U Bulletin

Check out the in-game bulletin for recommended Collections, featured items, helpful notifications and more!
