Princess Peach’s voice has been stolen… and this time, Bowser isn’t to blame!

Disguised as an ambassador of the Beanbean Kingdom, the evil witch Cackletta has pinched Princess Peach’s soothing voice and left her with an explosive vocabulary! With Princess Peach unable to cry for help, Toad rushes off to inform Mario and Luigi of the perilous situation.

You’ve got the moves

Work as a team to overcome all sorts of situations using Bros. Actions! Switch between Mario and Luigi to perform special techniques that let you reach new areas and grab secrets that seem completely out of reach. Catapult to higher ground, hover over long distances and shrink down to size – with Bros. Actions, there’s nothing Mario and Luigi can’t accomplish together!

Time to fight

With countless enemies spoiling for a fight, you’ll need to master the basics of battle or risk getting pummelled! Battles consist of both turn-based and timing-based elements, so pay attention to the on-screen action when you’re in the middle of a scuffle. By pressing buttons at just the right time, you can skilfully dodge enemy blows, deliver devastating counters and inflict increased damage!

Each baddie presents a fresh new challenge, with different attack patterns and plenty of surprises that can throw you off. Keep an eye out for any visual clues that may indicate when they’re about to attack, then dodge their moves and strike back with a few of your own!

Brotherly bond

Take down tougher adversaries with Bros. Attacks! These flashy, team-based moves dish out massive damage, but require expert timing to pull off correctly. The more Bros. Attacks you perform, the faster you’ll learn new and improved versions. However, you’ve only got a limited number of Bros. Points – so use them wisely!

Growing strong

Mario and Luigi will earn experience points after each successful battle and even level up! The dynamic duo will become more formidable fighters with every level they reach, as their individual stats and abilities slowly improve. As a bonus, every time you reach a new level you can pick one attribute to gain extra experience points. A randomly spinning wheel will determine exactly how much your chosen attribute will improve by, depending on where it stops. You could earn one point…or maybe even four!

With the Touch Screen, you can see a detailed map as you explore the Beanbean Kingdom, switch between Bros. Actions with a single tap, and issue commands with your Captain in Minion Quest: The Search for Bowser

Battle wares

Some enemies will leave behind useful items for you to use, such as Mushrooms which can restore a small amount of health. They may also drop new clothes and badges which can be equipped to make Mario and Luigi’s attacks more effective. You never know what you might pick up after a battle!

Shop ‘til you drop

Collect coins to spend in the various shops located throughout the Beanbean Kingdom! You can earn coins by defeating various foes, opening blocks and playing minigames. The shops are full of enticing goods that can help you on your adventure, so make sure you have some coins handy so you can splash the cash.

A baddie’s point of view

Gain a unique perspective as you attempt to free Bowser and his brainwashed minions from the grasps of Cackletta’s meddling assistant, the mischievous Fawful! Find out what really transpired behind-the-scenes in this hilarious new side to the story, and become an unlikely hero!

Lead your team to victory

Deploy a squad of eight soldiers and go head-to-head against opposing armies in seriously chaotic battles. Influence the action at just the right moment by issuing commands with your Captain, and turn the battle in your favour.

Cancel opposing attacks with the Deny command, raise your team’s spirit with a Rally cry, and increase the evasiveness of your combative crew with the Chance command. Your decisions will determine whether your team emerges victorious on the battlefield or retreats a little worse for wear!

Prior preparation is key

Each member of your tenacious team has their own character-specific values that will determine their behaviour in battle. They’ll also fall into one of three classes: melee, ranged or flying.

You’ll need to carefully consider the strengths and weaknesses of your squad before each confrontation, as some classes are more effective against others. Can you capitalise on the enemy’s failings and stop them from exploiting yours?

Build your squad

Defeat opposing armies to recruit more soldiers! You can enlist up to 250 new recruits to join your brave band of villains and create several squads to take on specific tactical challenges that may lie ahead.

A fine collection

You’ll earn a stamp for each compatible amiibo you tap in, which you can then exchange for one in-game item from the stamp-collector. Can you collect them all?

Golden leadership

If you tap the Boo, Goomba or Koopa Troopa amiibo, you can unlock three extra quests and a special golden Captain character to help you in Minion Quest: The Search for Bowser! These courageous Captains are a cut above the rest and can help steer your team to victory!

If you own a New Nintendo 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS XL or New Nintendo 2DS XL, you can use amiibo on the NFC area on the bottom screen. You can also use amiibo on Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL and Nintendo 2DS via the NFC Reader/Writer accessory (sold separately).
