Story & Characters

What are LBX?

In the year 2042, toy maker Tiny Orbit launched miniature customisable robot toys called LBX. These remote controlled machines became a booming success, but their ability to fight other LBX was deemed too dangerous by many.

To avoid pulling LBX off shelves, Tiny Orbit created the Battle Box, a portable diorama made of fortified cardboard, allowing kids to safely let their LBX duke it out in dedicated arenas called Battlescapes.

Little battlers, big adventure!

Many years later, LBX are still all the rage with kids and, like many students his age, middle schooler Van Yamano is fanatical about them. Van’s hopes to one day have his own LBX, but that all changes when a mysterious woman gives him a secret prototype LBX, the AX-00. Van and his friends soon learn that the AX-00 is no ordinary LBX: within its Skele-Frame lies the key to an unlimited source of power that could save the world…or destroy it!

CI16_3DS_LittleBattlersExperience_Story.jpg

They’ll have to be careful though! A shady organisation called the New Dawn Raisers have also got their eyes on Van’s prized possession and will go to any lengths to seize it for their own evil plans. The stakes are about to get a lot higher – not only for Van and his friends, but for the whole world!

Van Yamano

This young boy is fanatical about LBX. After hopelessly trying to convince his mother to let him build a robot of his own, fate entrusts Van with a secret prototype LBX of his very own.

CI7_3DS_LittleBattlersExperience_AmyAndKaz.jpg

Amy Cohen and Kaz Walker

Amy and Kaz are both close friends of Van, and they’re always willing to go above and beyond to help him out of a tricky situation.

CI7_3DS_LittleBattlersExperience_NewDawnRaisers.jpg

The New Dawn Raisers

Led by Cillian Kaido, a corrupt politician with plans to take control of the world, this shady organisation has its eyes on Van’s prized LBX and will stop at nothing to snatch it for their own evil plots.

Customise

Customising your LBX isn’t just fun – it’s essential if you want to best your opponents. There are millions of ways to create your own micro robot and watch it come to life in battle!

CI16_3DS_LittleBattlersExperience_Customise.jpg

Collect and assemble

Collect over 4,000 individual parts and assemble your LBX from one of over 130 pre-made LBX sets, or combine parts to create your own unique fighting machine from a practically infinite amount of possibilities.

Start by taking a look under the hood and installing Core Units, including batteries, motors, CPUs and other computer parts, to tweak your LBX’s stats and resistances.

Then, swap out head, body, arm and leg armour to give your bot a custom look, or activate special abilities for your LBX by equipping all the parts from the same Armour Set.

Armed and ready

Before you send your LBX into the Battlescape arena, be sure to arm it for combat. There are nine different weapon types available, so choose carefully.

See a selection of the weapons available below:

Each weapon will change your LBX’s fighting style. Wield swords, polearms, spikes, clubs, and shields to bash your foes in close quarters combat or, if you prefer a ranged approach, lock and load with a variety of firearms including machine guns, bazookas, sniper rifles and more. Some LBX can even be equipped with weapon arms or dual wield certain weapons.

Experiment with a variety of weapons and find the combination that’s ideal for you.

Part exchange

With so many parts to customise your LBX with, there are also lots of different ways to get your hands on them!

During your adventure, you can purchase new parts from Navarro’s Model Shop, and some can even be won by competing in certain battles.

CI7_3DS_LittleBattlersExperience_StreetPass_enGB.jpg

You can even earn new armour via StreetPass. Visit Navarro’s StreetPass Shop, where you can put up to five items up for sale and receive points based on the number of times they’re sent to other players. You can use any points you earn to buy new items there, too!

More free content to come!

With free add-on content, Nintendo Zone exclusives and special passwords you can get your hands on some rare and exclusive LBX models and parts! Visit our Unlockable Extras tab to find out more!

Battle

CI7_3DS_LittleBattlersExperience_Battle_enGB.bmp

Come out swinging!

Throw down your Battle Box and prepare for action in real-time battles!

Take direct control of your LBX in combat: move freely around your terrain, dashing and jumping towards your opponent for an attack.

CI7_3DS_LittleBattlersExperience_TensionGage_enGB.bmp

However you choose to approach combat, always be mindful of your Tension Gage, which will deplete when you dash or attack. An empty Tension Gage will reduce your power and speed, so optimise your weapon set and always be thinking one move ahead!

CI7_3DS_LittleBattlersExperience_Battlescapes_enGB.bmp

Battlescapes are massive 3D arenas which combat takes place in. From icy wastelands to frontlines overflowing with lava, explore each one carefully, find ways to use their unique layouts to your advantage and flank your target.

Battling will gradually wear out your LBX. Keep an eye on your Maintenance Gage and ensure your bots are kept in fighting shape with a spot of grease from time to time.

CI7_3DS_LittleBattlersExperience_SpecialAttack1_enGB.bmp

Unleash your LBX’s true power

Wallop your opponent’s bots with a powerful Special Attack Routine or a risky Breaking Blow. Every attack you land increases your Chance Gage which, when full, allows you to use one of these stunning moves!

CI7_3DS_LittleBattlersExperience_SpecialAttack2_enGB.bmp

If your enemy is on its last legs, your Special Attack Routine transforms into an almighty Breaking Blow that will wipe your rival’s bot out and reward you generously with some new parts – but only if you pull it off properly. If a Breaking Blow fails to deal enough damage, your LBX will overheat, leaving you exposed for a retaliatory attack!

Be sure to level up your weapons to unlock even more Special Attack Routines and beware of enemies getting even with their own Breaking Blow!

Seek out new challengers

Van’s hometown of Pacifica is a bustling hub where you’ll drive the story forward as you encounter new friends and enemies on your adventure to stop the New Dawn Raisers.

CI7_3DS_LittleBattlersExperience_WalkingShop.jpg

There’s tons to see and do in Pacifica, especially if you’re a fan of LBX! When class finishes at the local middle school, head to the nearby shopping district to flick through LBX magazines and pick up the latest LBX parts from Navarro’s Model Shop.

You can even visit the Arcade, where any LBX Cards you collect can be used to battle against the LBX model pictured on the card itself. Whether you’re taking a stroll by the riverside or visiting Pacifica Station, chat with the locals to see if you can earn some extra Tune-up Points by battling them.

Multiplayer

Free for all fun!

Compete to become an LBX champion with your friends…or against them!

CI7_3DS_LittleBattlersExperience_MultiplayerCastle_enGB.bmp

Bring your own customised LBX into Wireless Battles, a mode where up to six-players can settle the score in head-to-head fights via Local Play. Decide the match rules, pick from 20 different Battlescapes and start having fun with friends and family!

CI7_3DS_LittleBattlersExperience_MultiplayerCity_enGB.bmp

Compete for glory

You can also work together with up to two other friends locally or go for glory alone. In Ranking Battles, the rules are fixed but as you work through missions, you’ll have more freedom when it comes to choosing your opponents as well as deciding their difficulty rank.

Reap the rewards

Playing both Wireless and Ranked Battles rewards you with Battle Points to cash in on exclusive parts and weapons from the Point Shop – yet another way for you to collect and customise your LBX!

Don’t forget that you even gift and exchange LBX Cards in multiplayer to use in Pacifica’s Arcade!
