This update focuses on making tweaks to multiplayer. For main weapons, we made adjustments with the intention of making it easier to handle and utilise the strengths of some weapons, as well as adjusting the performance of some weapons that can hold the line in battle from a distance. For special weapons, we made changes that will create new ways to use them, expanding the range of gameplay. We plan on releasing the next update at the end of the current season. It will focus primarily on weapon balance adjustments and adding features for the new season starting in March.

    Bug Fixes

    Fixes to Player Controls

    • Fixed an issue while charging a Fizzy Bomb that sometimes resulted in the number of charged explosions displaying as increasing approximately 1/60 seconds faster than when they had actually increased.
    • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the jumping animation to be omitted when the player activated the Kraken Royale while swimming in ink on a wall.
    • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the Rainmaker to become embedded in the wall if a player carrying the Rainmaker was splatted while submerged in ink on a wall.

    Fixes to Multiplayer

    • Fixed an issue in Bluefin Depot that caused players who activated the Zipcaster near certain areas on the elevators to clip into the terrain when they returned to their original spot after the effect ended.
    • Fixed an issue in Bluefin Depot that caused Tenta Missiles and Ink Storm to get cut off by things like the elevators or the metal bridge.
    • Fixed an issue in Bluefin Depot in Turf War and Tower Control modes that allowed players to unintentionally reach higher terrain by using Triple Splashdown in certain areas.
    • Fixed an issue in Bluefin Depot in all modes except Tower Control that allowed players to unintentionally land on certain terrain.
    • Fixed an issue in Bluefin Depot in Tower Control mode that allowed players to get inside certain terrain.
    • Fixed an issue in Bluefin Depot in Tower Control mode that prevented certain walls near the centre of the stage from being inked correctly.
    • Fixed an issue in Bluefin Depot in Rainmaker mode where certain areas would not allow players to swim, even if those areas appeared to be inked.

    Fixes to Salmon Run

    • Fixed an issue when replaying job scenarios recorded in past versions where a different King Salmonid would sometimes appear than the King Salmonid that appeared originally.
    • Fixed an issue that sometimes prevented players from being able to splat Boss Salmonids with a charged swipe using a Grizzco Splatana if another player on their work crew had a Splatana Stamper or Splatana Wiper.
    • Fixed an issue in Spawning Grounds that caused slowdown when players were on top of certain terrain.

    Other Fixes

    Fixes to Salmon Run

    • Fixed an issue in Big Run that caused the news to not appear correctly when the event ended and prevented players from receiving a badge or decoration according to their high score.
      • Players who have already been affected by this issue can see the news play properly and also receive the badge or decorations they were supposed to receive by applying this update.
    • Fixed an issue that caused shots from the Crab Tank’s cannon to do less damage than before when hitting the body of a Steelhead while it’s growing a bomb from its head.

    Other Fixes

This update focuses on adding features for Chill Season 2023, which starts in December, as well as adding features to Anarchy Battle (Series) and X Battle, changes to Salmon Run and tweaks to multiplayer.

For Anarchy Battle (Series), we have created a unique goal for this mode by tracking and recognising five-win streaks.

In X Battles, we have added changes that make different variations occur more frequently than before to make it easier for players to set their own individual goals, even after playing this mode for a while.

In Salmon Run, we have made changes that make it easier to play with a goal in mind during Big Runs and have made adjustments to job titles when the schedule changes during normal jobs.

For battles, we added new weapons and special weapons, and we have also adjusted some weapons to make them easier to use.

Our next update is planned for the middle of Chill Season 2023 and should focus on balance adjustments.

    Bug Fixes

    Fixes to Player Controls

    • Fixed an issue where, if the player jumped from box to box on terrain where two or more boxes were stacked on top of each other, the height of their jumps would be reduced.
    • Fixed an issue that caused a player to display incorrectly on other players' screens if their connection was unstable and they Super Jumped repeatedly.
    • Fixed an issue where, if a player tried to do a Dodge Roll and fire their special weapon at the same time, their special weapon would be fired after their Dodge Roll took place. We have changed this so that, in this case, the special weapon will be fired without the Dodge Roll taking place at all.
    • Fixed an issue where, if two brellas with different durability hit one another, the brella with the higher durability wouldn't take any damage.
    • Fixed an issue where, when a player was on recon or in the lobby and hit a wall with splatana slashes, the wall wouldn't be inked as intended.
    • Fixed an issue where, when a player moved to get on top of an opponent's Splash Wall, they would not bounce as intended.
    • Fixed an issue where, when an opponent threw an Angle Shooter at the player, the player’s controller would vibrate as though they had taken damage from a direct hit when they had not actually taken damage.
    • Fixed an issue where damage done to targets by the explosion from a Crab Tank's cannon would count as double in the lobby for a special Splatfest.
    • Fixed an issue that caused Tacticoolers placed next to sponges to be destroyed unintentionally.
    • Fixed an issue where the sound that plays to indicate a hit would be played when the ink shot from an Ink Vac exploded, even though no opponents were actually hit by it.
    • Fixed an issue where, if the player triggered a Kraken Royale attack close to a precipice, when they jumped into the air the distance they could jump would be shorter than normal.
    • Fixed an issue that made the effect that displays around players' heads when their special is active disappear when a Super Chump was deployed.

    Fixes to Multiplayer

    • Fixed an issue in Splat Zones mode where the fireworks that display when the counter reaches 0 would be displayed in unintended locations in some stages.
    • Adjusted some of the terrain in Scorch Gorge to fix an issue in Turf War and Splat Zones modes that allowed players to Dodge Roll and enter the enemy base in an unintended way.
    • Fixed an issue that allowed players to submerge at certain locations in Eeltail Alley even though those locations couldn't be inked.
    • Fixed an issue in Mincemeat Metalworks in Tower Control mode that allowed players to enter the tower from above in an unintended location.
    • Fixed an issue in Mahi-Mahi Resort that allowed players to access unintended locations from inkrails.

    • Fixed an issue in Sturgeon Shipyard that allowed players to access high ground in an unintended way when doing a Squid Roll from a moving bridge.
    • Fixed an issue in Sturgeon Shipyard in Rainmaker mode that caused the Rainmaker to return to the top of a railing at the edge of the stage if the player fell off the railing and went outside the bounds of the stage.
    • Fixed an issue in Inkblot Art Academy in Rainmaker mode where the countdown would not speed up if a player carried the Rainmaker back to the top of certain walls in their own base.
    • Fixed an issue in Flounder Heights in Splat Zones mode that allowed players to access unintended locations by doing Squid Rolls from certain walls.
    • Fixed an issue in Humpback Pump Track in Clam Blitz mode that would cause the player to become unable to move if they tried to Super Jump from on top of certain railings.
    • Fixed an issue that allowed players to submerge at certain locations in Manta Maria even though those locations couldn't be inked.
    • Fixed an issue that allowed players to submerge at certain locations in Crableg Capital even though those locations couldn't be inked.
    • Fixed an issue in Crableg Capital that allowed players to fill their special gauge and increase their points by inking under some obstacles.
    • Fixed an issue in Crableg Capital where, if the player threw an Autobomb at certain locations, the Autobomb would not be able to move and would disappear without exploding.
    • Fixed an issue in Crableg Capital that made it so that the Zipcaster could only be used to cling to the steel beams around the outer edge of the stage on one team's side.
    • Adjusted some of the terrain in Crableg Capital to fix an issue in Tower Control mode that allowed players to get on top of grates in unintended ways from certain boxes.
    • Fixed an issue in Shipshape Cargo Co. where dropping down while Dodge Rolling at certain locations would cause players to sink into the floor.
    • Fixed an issue in Shipshape Cargo Co. where the Zipcaster could be used to get inside terrain from beneath certain obstacles.

    Fixes to Salmon Run

    • Fixed an issue where, if a Golden Egg was thrown from certain locations, occasionally it would get stuck bouncing in a perpetual loop and could not be retrieved.
    • Fixed an issue where, if a player was using the Crab Tank and changed to mobile mode at a specific moment just before a wave ended, the Crab Tank would be treated as though it was still in mobile mode even when the next wave started, leaving an ink trail behind it and causing damage by running over opponents.
    • Fixed an issue that caused players to not be able to pass through some Scrappers while in a life ring.
    • Fixed an issue that caused a Flyfish to not be brought down when hit by an attack from a Slammin' Lid.
    • Fixed an issue in Marooner's Bay that caused Golden Eggs to enter the terrain when a Boss Salmonid was defeated at certain locations.

    Fixes to Splatfests

    • Fixed an issue where, when taking a photo on a Splatfest Float after winning a 100x Battle or 333x Battle, the player's name would be displayed in an ink colour that didn't match the team they'd selected.
    • Fixed an issue where, if a battle occurred between members of the same team during a special Splatfest, the special ink colour would glow more than intended.

    Other Fixes

    • Fixed an issue where, if the player was in a gear shop and tried on gear with the same appearance as their equipped gear, then moved to the weapon shop, their equipped weapon would temporarily not be displayed.
    • Fixed an issue where, when some stickers were placed on a locker, their edges would appear distorted.
    • Fixed an issue where, when there was a special Splatfest going on in Inkopolis, the player could use an amiibo to call a character they shouldn't have been able to call due to the Splatfest.
    • Fixed an issue that caused the trying on animation to repeat unintentionally when trying on weapons or gear at a shop.
    • Fixed an issue where, if a player entered a Salmon Run room at the Shoal, then changed their work suit, once Salmon Run started they would revert to the work suit they were wearing before they changed.
    • Fixed an issue where, if the player used the Grizzco terminal to report another player, a Splashtag would be displayed that differed from the one they were actually using.

This update focuses on adding special Splatfest data and making tweaks to multiplayer.

We have made it easier to utilise the strengths of some main weapons and have also increased the options for other main weapons that fulfil similar roles.

Additionally, we've made it easier to battle with main weapons that are paired with Curling Bombs.

We have also made adjustments to some special weapons. We adjusted the amount of damage that the Killer Wail 5.1 deals to compensate for the fact that many players are now used to dodging it. For the Kraken Royale, we made adjustments to give players additional options outside of a charge attack. For the Trizooka, we made it more difficult to splat opponents accidentally, while preserving the ability for players to splat opponents by aiming well and firing two consecutive shots. For Tenta Missiles, we made adjustments to reduce instances where players still took damage even if they took measures to evade enemy missiles.

We plan on releasing the next update around the middle of November to add Deep Cut amiibo data.

Additionally, we have made adjustments to some sub weapons to make them easier to use in conjunction with main weapons.

We have also adjusted some special weapons. In addition to similar adjustments mentioned above to encourage a wider selection of usage, we’ve dialled back the performance of some special weapons that had been modified in the past. Their specifications are now closer to the original weapon specifications.

We plan on releasing the next update at the end of the current season. It will focus primarily on further weapon balance adjustments and adding features for the new season starting in September.

This update focuses on adding features for Sizzle Season 2023, which starts in June, as well as adding Challenges and Anarchy Battle (Open) features. It also adjusts the balance of battles and Salmon Run.

Regarding Challenges, we have implemented the features of League Battles from Splatoon 2 separately. Special events like tournaments and monthly battles are now a part of Challenges, while you’ll be able to test your skills with friends any time in Anarchy Battle (Open).

In terms of battle adjustments, we’ve added new main weapons, powered up some special weapons and have made adjustments to certain weapons.

In particular, the Sloshing Machine was designed for fighting in places with height differences or lots of obstacles, but it has proven highly effective even in battles in flat places. So, by lengthening the interval between continuous swings, we’ve maintained the characteristic wide attack range while decreasing its ability to defeat opponents.

For the Splatana Stamper, we’ve increased the accuracy of the aim for follow-up attacks with horizontal slashes and lowered the ability to continue fighting solo, all while maintaining the unique nature of fighting by relying on the powerful charged slash (which balances a wide inking range and high attack performance).

Regarding the Splash-o-matic and the Neo Splash-o-matic, we’ve made adjustments to slightly alleviate the situation where they are able to effectively exchange fire with foes at a greater distance than intended.

Our next update is planned for the middle of Sizzle Season 2023 and will primarily focus on balance adjustments.

    Bug Fixes

    • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused an ink-spray animation to play when a player changed into swim form in mid-air.
    • Fixed an issue where it was sometimes difficult to get on top of a wall when swimming up a wall with a grate above it.
    • Fixed an issue that made it possible to use throwing-type special weapons slightly faster than intended by activating the special weapon in the interval between pressing the ZR Button and when the ink actually fired.
    • Fixed an issue that made it difficult to ink the ground when a blaster was fired while directly adjacent to a wall.
    • Fixed an issue where the ink consumed by a horizontal swing of a roller while moving was slightly more than when a horizontal swing was performed while standing still.
    • Fixed an issue where the animation appeared to show ink flying on the player’s screen even if another player was using a roller that was out of ink.
    • Fixed an issue where the intended sound effect would not play on the player’s screen when another player was swinging a brush while out of ink.
    • Fixed an issue where, when a player Super Jumped and opened a brella just before landing, foes who touched that brella and were pushed by it sometimes clipped inside the terrain.
    • Fixed an issue where, when brellas with different durabilities clashed and one of them broke, the one that remained sometimes was not damaged.
    • Fixed an issue where the area for Splat Brellas and Undercover Brellas blocking enemy shots was smaller than it appeared.

    Changes to Salmon Run

      • However, if communication delays exceed a certain level, the timing may not be the same as the host player.

This update focuses on adding Splatfest data, adjusting Splatfest Points, and making tweaks to multiplayer.

For Splatfest Points, adjustments to the Halftime Report should make it feel less like the winning team has already been decided.

For main weapons, the changes should highlight the unique traits of weapons and strengthen certain combinations of sub and special weapons.

For sub weapons, the changes should create more ways to use certain sub weapons, as well as curtail strategies that employed repetitive use of certain sub weapons.

For special weapons, we have reviewed and made adjustments to the performance of each special weapon now that the usage of special weapons new to Splatoon 3 is better established.

For the new special weapon Kraken Royale, its basic abilities are unchanged, but it has been adjusted in certain modes to reduce unfavorable circumstances.

For Salmon Run, the changes should ensure that lag will be minimal no matter which system is the host. It’s possible that selection of the host system for online play in any or all game modes may change, either by adding a feature or improving communication efficiency. Therefore, we are taking steps to minimize lag regardless of which system is the host.

We plan on releasing the next update at the end of the current season. It will focus primarily on balance adjustments and adding features for the new season starting in June.

      • Both the initial hazard level and the job scenario for Eggstra Work are fixed, which means that every team will face off against the same Salmonids under the same conditions every time. However, if your team manages to exceed the Golden Eggs quota by enough, your hazard level will go up, making it possible to get a higher score.
    • You will now be able to preview items when exchanging fish scales, similar to how you can preview items at Hotlantis, etc.

This update focuses on adding support for the Inkopolis portion of the Splatoon 3: Expansion Pass – Inkopolis & Side Order DLC, as well as adding data and features relating to Fresh Season 2023 and making adjustments to battles.

For battles, changes are primarily focused on ensuring special weapon balance.

We’ve made other changes with the intent of curtailing strategies that employed repetitive use of certain sub weapons.

By analysing data in this state at an early stage, we hope to release update data that includes main weapon adjustments before long.

For Salmon Run, we have introduced the limited-time Eggstra Work event in addition to a new King Salmonid enemy.

There will be one or two Eggstra Work events during Fresh Season 2023.

For now, you’ll need a group of players to participate in Eggstra Work, but we will consider adding the option to join as a solo player in the future.

In addition to this, we have implemented various features, improvements large and small, and bug fixes.

We plan on releasing the next update sometime around the end of March or the first half of April, and it will focus primarily on balance adjustments.

This update focuses on adjustments related to battles.

Many of the adjustments to main weapons were made to lessen the impact that the removal of the "Main Power Up" ability in Splatoon 3 had on weapons from Splatoon 2.

Regarding changes to Ninja Squid, while mitigating the issue where players would lose sight of each other when shooting from a relatively short distance, we’re also intentionally maintaining the way to approach opponents with longer ranges.

We've reduced the amount needed to fill special gauges for some weapons and, within that group, have strengthened some frequently used short-range weapons to increase player options.

We've increased the amount needed to fill special gauges for some weapons and, within that group, have somewhat curtailed the tactic of using sub weapons and special weapons to attack from a distance.

We've also made some adjustments to better demonstrate the characteristics of special weapons.

The next update will focus on new features and weapon balance for the start of the new season in March. The update is planned for the end of the current season.

    Changes to X Battles

    • X Battle, a new battle mode, has been added.
      • X Battle is a battle mode where players of ranks S+0 and up can compete in battle for X Power.
      • X Power is calculated separately for each battle mode like Splat Zones or Tower Control.
      • Players battle until reaching three wins or three losses, whereupon X Power is gained or lost based on the results.
      • The world is divided into two divisions in which X Battles are held to compete for the highest X Power: Takoroka Division, comprising Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand, and Tentatek Division, comprising the Americas and Europe.
      • The division a player is affiliated with is determined the first time they play in an X Battle each season. Once this is determined, the division cannot be changed during that season.
      • X Battles will become available to play on 30 November at the same time as Chill Season 2022 begins.

    Changes to Anarchy Battles

    • Added a feature allowing players to purposely reset their rank.

      • What rank a player is reset to is determined automatically by their estimated ability based on their battles up to that point.
      • Players can use this feature by opening up the Lobby menu, moving their cursors to Anarchy Battle and pressing the ZL Button.
    • Some values of the initial cost in Rank Points spent to enter an Anarchy Battle (Series) have increased.
      Rank Cost Before Cost After
      A- 100 110

      S 150 170
      S+0 and up 160 180

    Changes to Salmon Run

    • Data relating to the Big Run event has been added.
      • Big Run is a phenomenon where mass numbers of Salmonids swim upstream once every few months.
      • While a Big Run is happening, Salmon Run will be held specially on regular battle stages.
      • When the Big Run has ended, different decorations will be awarded to players based on the Big Run results. This will be calculated based on the highest number of Golden Eggs collected in a single work shift across the entire player base.
    • Added a feature to save and replay job scenarios.
      • A job scenario is the collected overall data comprising elements of a single job shift like stage, weapon array, appearing Salmonids and special events.
      • Players can save job scenarios from the Recent Jobs screen at the Grizzco terminal.
      • Players can reproduce a scenario and attempt it as many times as they like by creating a Private Job room, then pressing the ZL Button to select a scenario.
      • Job scenarios can be shared with other players via the code issued when the scenario is saved.

Note: By entering a code at the Grizzco terminal, you can also download and save other players’ scenarios.

      • When a new update is released, job scenarios from previous versions may become unable to be used.
    • The conditions for using the rank resetting feature have been changed to being above Go-Getter 40.
    • When a player with a rank higher than Eggsecutive VP 100 uses the rank resetting feature, they are not reset all at once to rank value 40. They will be reset in stages of 100 points at a time.
      • When the stage changes, rank will be reset to Eggsecutive VP 40 as it has been before now.
    • Some Boss Salmonid abilities have been changed.
      Boss Salmonid Change Details
      Big Shot
      • Movement speed is now about 30% slower than before.
        • In addition to lowering the Big Shot’s attack frequency, this also lengthens the amount of time it spends walking on land, increasing the players’ window of opportunity to attack.
      • The animation played as the Big Shot’s shot comes flying in will be shown for longer than before, making it easier to determine where the shot was fired from.
    • The performance of some special weapons has been changed.
      Special Weapon Change Details
      Killer Wail 5.1
      • Increased the precision with which it tracks Boss Salmonids.
      • Damage dealt has been increased by about 25%.
      Triple Inkstrike
      • The guide devices will now trigger when touched by a Salmonid.

      Booyah Bomb
      • The player will no longer be a target for most Salmonid attacks while charging up the Booyah Bomb.
    • The number of Boss Salmonids that can appear at once has been capped at 15.
      • When defeating Boss Salmonids at a regular pace, even at high hazard levels, players will not reach this limit. This change was made because, in cases where players are chased down by bosses they cannot splat, the appearance of too many bosses can slow the game down and make it more difficult than necessary to get things back under control.

    Changes to Splatfests

    • Tricolor Battles have been modified so that all players can play on the attacking or defending team regardless of the halftime results.
      • Players can join by themselves or in a pair with a friend. When playing by themselves, they will be paired with another solo player, same as before.
      • A group of eight will be created from four pairs, and a 2 vs. 4 vs. 2 Tricolor Battle will commence.
      • Players do not know whether they will be on an attacking team or the defending team until the battle begins.
      • Players have a fifty-fifty chance of being on an attacking team or the defending team, regardless of their Splatfest team affiliation.
      • Depending on population ratios for Splatfest teams, there may be Tricolor Battles where all eight players are on the same Splatfest team. In these cases, Clout will not be calculated.
    • Clout earned in Tricolor Battles will now be calculated in the final results, and the points awarded for each category have been adjusted.
    • Part of the way Clout is calculated for Tricolor Battles has changed.
      • Increased the victory bonus for the defending team.
      • When the team in first place at halftime is the defending team and the attacking teams are from the second- or third-place teams, 1.5 times more Clout will be awarded for a victory.
    • When you win a 10x, 100x or 333x Battle, it will be shown at your Pledge Box.
    • After winning a 100x or 333x Battle, you can board your team’s float from your Pledge Box to take commemorative pictures.

    Changes to Lockers

    • T-shirt gear items can now be folded for storage by pressing the Left Stick while placing the shirt.
    • When pressing B to cancel placement, the locker will now return to the immediately previous state before you grabbed anything.

    Other Changes

    • Players can now enter Photo Mode from Recon Mode.
      • Players can use Photo Mode not only by themselves but also when entering Recon Mode with multiple people by way of Private Battles.
    • When walking a stage in recon by oneself, a player can call an amiibo to take pictures with.
    • Added a feature to temporarily use a different player name than usual when playing Private Battles over the internet.
      • The idea is, to give one example, to be able to add a team name into your player name just for Private Battles.
      • When creating or joining a group for a Private Battle, you can temporarily set a different name by pressing the L Button.
    • The song title and artist of the background music will now be shown at the beginning of battle.
    • In the Equip screen, when a player has a lot of weapons or gear, it will now be clear what page of items is being shown.
    • In the Equip screen, when sorting by gear ability, abilities that do not exist on the items being sorted will no longer appear as sorting options.
    • Added a feature for listening to Sheldon’s weapon explanations again in Ammo Knights.
      • Players can use this feature by putting their cursor over the weapon they want to hear the explanation for and pressing the ZR Button.
    • Added a badge related to using the Shell-Out Machine.
      • Previous usage up to this point is counted towards badge progress.

This update focuses on adding data and new features relating to Chill Season 2022, adjustments to battles and Salmon Run and changes to Tricolor Battles.

For battles, besides an adjustment to reduce attack frequency for the battle style of repeatedly firing Tenta Missiles from afar, we also focused on updates to increase some weapons’ ease of use.

For Salmon Run, in addition to lowering the Big Shot’s attack frequency and giving players more chances to damage it by lowering its movement speed, we implemented changes to improve factors that made some special weapons difficult to use.

For Splatfests, as announced in the previous update, we made significant changes to the Tricolor Battle mode.

In addition to this are various added features and improvements, including large and small and bug fixes.

Our next update is planned for the middle of Chill Season 2022 and should focus on balance adjustments after we analyse data from the newly added weapons.

    Bug Fixes

    Fixes to Player Controls

    • Fixed an issue where standing on the edge of a sponge of the opponents’ colour and jumping would let players do a jump of the same height as the regular ground.
    • Fixed an issue where a player being moved involuntarily by things like a Splash Wall or a Salmonid’s attack would cause them to not be shown in the proper position on another player’s screen.
    • Fixed an issue where players going into swim form on thin floors could allow some attacks to damage them from the opposite side of the terrain.
    • Fixed an issue where swimming on a wall and quickly doing a Squid Surge would allow the player to jump higher than intended when wearing gear with a lot of Intensify Action abilities.
    • Fixed an issue where doing a Super Jump onto a sponge would cause the player to land in mid-air.
    • Fixed an issue with shooters, blasters, dualies and the Crab Tank’s ZR Button shots where aiming above or below horizontal while firing would cause the shots’ left-right scatter to be less than intended.
    • Fixed an issue where a player with a roller would not be bounced backwards when their roller’s ground-rolling attack hit but did not splat an opponent.
    • Fixed an issue where the sound effect of a player using a roller, brush or slosher could be triggered twice on other players’ screens.
    • Fixed an issue where the sound effect of a player doing a dualie Dodge Roll could be triggered twice on other players’ screens.
    • Fixed an issue with the Bloblobber where lobbing blobs while touching certain terrain or while inputting certain controls could cause some of the blobs not to be lobbed correctly.
    • Fixed an issue where performing a dualie Dodge Roll immediately after landing from a Super Jump could result in the roll’s trajectory looking different to other players than that of the actual roll.
    • Fixed an issue where using a sub weapon after doing a Squid Roll from a wall or a Squid Surge while having a brella equipped would cause the brella to be shown in an unnatural position.
    • Fixed an issue when firing a stringer while in close contact with a metal grate where the stringer’s shots would be obstructed by the grate.
    • Fixed an issue with splatanas’ horizontal slashes where there was a difference in the vertical position of the collision detection between the centre and the edges, and they did not align with the visual appearance.
    • Fixed an issue where pressing the ZL Button while preparing a charged slash with a splatana, then releasing the ZR Button before going into swim form would result in a horizontal slash instead of a charged slash.
    • Fixed an issue where a player who activated the Zipcaster while holding the R Button and then immediately releasing R would result in a sub weapon being used despite the Zipcaster being in use, making the time of the Zipcaster’s continuous use shorter.
    • Fixed an issue where the Reefslider’s explosion animation would not be triggered on a player’s screen when another player used the Reefslider.
    • Fixed an issue where attacking the starting point of an inkrail with the Ultra Stamp would cause the game to slow down.

    • Fixed an issue when breaking an opponent’s brella shield while inking the ground with the ZR Button with a brush or roller where the player using the brush or roller would not be knocked back.
    • Fixed an issue where the Sloshing Machine’s spirals would deal damage to opponents on the opposite side of thin terrain.
    • Fixed an issue where an opponent’s bomb touching a brella shield at the same moment the brella closed would cause the brella not to take damage.
    • Fixed an issue where splatanas’ melee attacks could deal damage to an opponent on the other side of thin terrain.
    • Fixed issues where placing a Splash Wall at certain locations could cause it to move to a slightly different position, float above the terrain or disappear instantly.
    • Fixed an issue where a thrown Splash Wall or Wave Breaker would disappear if it touched an ally’s Crab Tank before being set up.
    • Fixed an issue where a Big Bubbler’s drone device being touched by a Wave Breaker’s wave would cause an animation looking like the drone was taking damage, despite it not actually taking any.
    • Adjusted the colour of the Reefslider’s attack area indicator to fix an issue where certain ink colour combinations made it easy to be mistaken for the enemy team’s colour.
    • Fixed an issue where Tenta Missiles passing within inches of terrain before impact would cause the impact predicter’s position to be shown in a different position than the actual impact.
    • Fixed an issue with sending Booyah! to charge a Booyah Bomb where pressing the button quickly could exceed the intended limit and charge the bomb rapidly.

      • On average, data will be transferred about 0.05 seconds more quickly than before.
      • Users can expect to see a reduction in the time it takes from a player being dealt damage to them being defeated, the time it takes from touching a Golden Egg to actually picking it up and other similar actions.
      • These improvements cannot fully compensate for a slow or unreliable internet connection.

    Changes to Multiplayer

    • Specifications for some of the main weapons have changed.

      • Fizzy Bomb
      • Increased the time it takes for ink to start recovering after using a Fizzy Bomb by about 0.25 seconds.

    Changes to Splatfest

    • Made it so that when players from each team appear during Open and Pro Splatfest Battles, each team’s affiliation is also displayed, making it easy to know which Splatfest team they’re on.
    • Made it possible to report “Fresh!” hand-drawn pictures that appear in the sky above Splatsville during a Splatfest.

    Other Changes

    • Information like the name of the current mode and progress through a challenge will now be displayed when opening the lobby menu during matchmaking in the lobby or Grizzco.
    • When playing alone, immediately after choosing “Keep Going” or “Change Gear, Then Go!” the player can now use the – Button in the lobby or Grizzco to cancel matchmaking, depending on the game mode selected.
    • In the lobby or Grizzco, when the player can select “OK!” or “Yeah” when joining a friend, a sound effect will now play and the controller will vibrate to notify the player.
    • Improved the efficiency of matchmaking for Anarchy Battle (Open), Anarchy Battle (Series), Splatfest Battle (Open) and Tricolor Battle.
      • These changes mean that a pair of players joining an Anarchy Battle (Open) or Splatfest Battle (Open) can expect shorter wait times.
    • When reading an amiibo with a Freshest Fit saved on the equip screen, there will now be an exclamation point where “Freshest Fit” is displayed on the bottom right of the screen.

This update focuses on adjusting some weapons, improving several features and fixing bugs that relate to battles.

We’ve implemented several adjustments to curtail, to a certain extent, the style of play where the player stays far removed from the action and continually uses sub weapons or special weapons. This patch prioritises bug fixes. Other adjustments to weapons will continue in the next update.

In addition, we’ve reduced the amount of time matchmaking takes for certain modes, reduced battle latency, made small convenience improvements to the lobby and more.

The next update will focus on new features for the season beginning in December, weapon balance changes, and changes to the Splatfest Tricolor Battle mode. It is scheduled to be released at the end of the current season.

    Changes to Connectivity

    • Implemented additional measures to reduce the frequency of communication errors following battles and job shifts.

    Other Changes

    • Fixed an issue where the game would crash when the player finished editing their locker with a photo stand placed in the locker.
    • Fixed an issue with receiving a new catalog after reaching catalog level 100, where a communication error happening or the game crashing could result in the catalog-receiving event not triggering.

(In cases where this issue has already occurred, the catalog-receiving event will play again once the player has restarted the software and entered Hotlantis.)

    • Fixed an issue relating to Super Sea Snails. If you were unable to receive Super Sea Snails from the first Splatfest, the final results news broadcast will replay and you will now be able to collect your Super Sea Snails.

Because this update patch focuses on additional fixes to connection-related issues and fixes to some control and battle-related issues, we have prioritised its release.

We identified an issue where communications with the server are interrupted during a battle or job shift due to settings on the player's network equipment and their internet service provider.

We have implemented measures to reduce communication interruptions and reduce subsequent errors after a battle or job shift even if an interruption does occur.

Additionally, we have implemented provisional fixes regarding some problems that affect the feeling and feedback of controls while playing.

In the case of the issue with clipping through terrain when using a Tacticooler, we decided that it was more important to quickly release a solution that mitigates the issue rather than hold out for a “perfect fix.”

Furthermore, if players are found to be harassing other players or otherwise violating Nintendo Community Guidelines by intentionally exploiting game bugs, we are actively taking measures including suspension of online play.

The next patch will focus primarily on balance adjustments and other issues that were outside the scope of the current patch.

We continue to observe and analyse battle data and are planning to make further adjustments around the midpoint of the current season.

    Ver. 1.1.1 (Released 16 September 2022)

    Changes to Splatfests

    • The rate of Tricolor Battle occurrence has been adjusted. From the defending team’s perspective, Tricolor Battles will trigger somewhat less frequently than before.

    Changes to Player Controls

    • Fixed an issue where it was possible to jump farther than usual with a Squid Roll by performing a certain input while charging a Squid Surge.
    • Fixed issues that appeared when playing for a long time without closing the software, such as shots from the player’s main weapon not firing correctly.
    • Fixed an issue where the player could move through the surface of the water or stand on water when moving quickly, for example when performing a Dodge Roll with Splat Dualies.

    Changes to Multiplayer

    • Fixed an issue where connection errors occurred with high frequency at the end of battles due to the connection environment.
      • Added 16/09: Due to this fix, it may be the case that, in the lobby immediately after a battle ends, the display for information like your rank and Rank Points is the same as it was before the battle. However, if you re-enter the lobby, the display will update to the latest information.
    • Fixed an issue with the Bloblobber where the collision detection of the third and fourth blobs of a single volley became extremely small.
    • Fixed an issue where cash and experience were not being awarded in certain circumstances when a battle ended early due to a lack of players.
    • Fixed an issue where, in certain modes, a player would be unable to cancel matchmaking when not enough other players were gathered. Matchmaking will now be cancelled automatically after a certain amount of time has passed.
    • Fixed an issue in Sturgeon Shipyard in which it was possible to enter the back side of certain drawbridges.

    Changes to Salmon Run

    • Fixed an issue where connection errors occurred with high frequency at the end of jobs due to the connection environment.
    • Fixed an issue with Mudmouth Eruption events in which Mudmouths moved in unintended ways.
    • Fixed an issue that caused some players with identical titles to be considered “rank supporters” and not gain Rank Points.
    • Fixed an issue where continuously damaging a submerged Maws with certain special weapons would cause the game to crash.
    • Fixed an issue where players were becoming trapped within the stage terrain.
    • Fixed an issue where, at the end of battle, the amount of Grizzco Points earned would be shown as lower than the amount actually added to the player's save data, which caused cases where they could not collect rewards.
    • Fixed an issue where the messages at the beginning of Wave 3 could change based on whether or not a King Salmonid would appear.

    Changes to Story Mode

    • Fixed an issue where, after clearing the final stage, a communication error would occur in the middle of a certain scene and return the player to the square.
      • The post-clear cutscenes can be viewed by clearing the final stage again.
      • In cases where this error occurs, the final stage is treated as cleared, and the stage can be skipped from the pause menu when reattempting.

    Other Changes

    • Fixed an issue when starting the game for the first time in which the game could get stuck and not advance from the black screen after the screen where yellow and blue ink mix together.
    • Fixed an issue when downloading a battle replay that occasionally caused the game to not advance.
    • Fixed an issue in which the game would crash when the schedule was updated while attempting to join a friend.
    • Fixed a rare issue where the game would crash while the player was visiting a shop.
    • Fixed an issue where a communication error could occur while a player traded in gear at a shop.
    • Fixed an issue where a connection error could occur when buying a weapon. A player would seem to then have the weapon equipped despite not having been able to buy it, which would cause a connection error if the player attempted to join a battle.

Because this update patch focuses on Splatfest-related changes and addresses bugs that can have a significant effect on game progress, we have prioritised its release.

Please note that the changes to Tricolor Battle frequency should be considered temporary. For now, there will be somewhat more instances of players selecting Tricolor Battle but being placed in a Turf War battle instead. Going forward, Splatfest matchmaking specifications will continue to be adjusted, and this issue will be rectified. We are planning to implement these adjustments with the new season beginning in December.

The next patch will focus primarily on balance adjustments and other issues that were outside the scope of the current patch.

We will continue to observe and analyse battle data and are planning to make adjustments at the midpoint of the current season.
